About BeLoved Hospice

Reimagining Hospice Care for Oregon Families

How We Define Hospice

Hospice is about much more than endings. For us, it’s a full state of care that focuses on making the most of the time that remains, and doing our best to honor every person we have contact with.

Our model of hospice care focuses on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. This can mean many things, including providing relief from pain and symptoms, offering emotional, spiritual, and practical support to patients and families, singing a favorite song, or making sure no one feels alone as they grieve or say goodbye. Whether we are visiting a patient in their family home, a care facility, or another setting, we create space for comfort, connection, and compassion.

How BeLoved Hospice Is Different

Hospice care is an extremely personal and compassionate time. As such, it should be free from any type of corporate constraint or protocol-driven mindset. Everyone on BeLoved's Oregon-based team takes this to heart. That’s why we do more without charging more.

Our care extends well beyond traditional hospice support. In meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of patients and families, we make sure the journey is as meaningful, peaceful, and comfortable as possible.

Unlike larger, corporate hospice models, we prioritize relationships and care over efficiency. We want patients and families to receive the time, care, and attention they deserve. With more frequent visits and a team that stays present regardless of the clock, we seek to transform the end-of-life experience into one that includes dignity, love, and presence.

What to Expect from the BeLoved Hospice Team

BeLoved’s staff and volunteers take time to get to know patients and families, and tailor service and support groups to meet very unique needs.

Our care team, complete with nurses, CNAs, social workers, chaplains, massage therapists, music therapists, end-of-life doulas and others, works together to provide a whole-person, whole-journey experience.

BeLoved is CHAP Accredited

The standards of excellence set by Community Health Accreditation Partner, Inc. (CHAP) are the hospice industry’s highest nationally recognized standards. Holding CHAP Accreditation aligns with our dual focus: 1) to provide the best, most well-rounded hospice care imaginable, and 2) to always strive to improve experiences and outcomes for patients and their loved ones.

CHAP is an independent, not-for-profit, accrediting body for community-based health care organizations. Created in 1965, CHAP was the first to recognize the need and value for accreditation in community-based care.

CHAP is the oldest national, community-based accrediting body with more than 9,000 agencies currently accredited nationwide. Through “deeming authority” granted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), CHAP has the regulatory authority to survey agencies providing home health, hospice and home medical equipment services, to determine if they meet the

Medicare Conditions of Participation and CMS Quality Standards. CHAP’s purpose is to define and advance the highest standards of community-based care.

Who is Eligible for Hospice?

Admission into hospice care is available to people who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness or have a life-limiting prognosis.

If you or your loved one are experiencing a decline in health and are seeking compassionate end-of-life care, our team can help determine if BeLoved Hospice is the right choice.

Is there a best time to start hospice care?

Hospice care can begin when a patient receives a prognosis of six months or less if their terminal illness runs its normal course. It’s important to remember that diseases don’t follow a normal trajectory, and many don’t run a traditional course. Patients can actually be in hospice a lot longer than six months.

While it is difficult to know the exact right decisions for your loved ones during their end-of-life journey, there are certain signs that it might be the right time for hospice care:

These are just a few of the signs that someone might benefit from hospice care. If you think you or your loved one might benefit from hospice care, call the team at BeLoved Hospice today.

Who Pays for Hospice?

Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans cover hospice care. For people without coverage, financial assistance may be available through community resources and charitable donations. For enrolled military veterans, the VA generally pays for hospice care.

BeLoved is committed to ensuring that every patient receives the care they deserve, regardless of financial circumstances.
