Specialized Dementia Care Program

Our Portland-based team has received specialized training on how to care for patients with late-stage neurological disorders. We work alongside you and the patient's caregivers to make sure that the patient is comfortable and pain free. Our goal is to ease the care-giving burden on friends and family so that they can spend more quality time with their loved one.

By delivering specialized care focused on aggressive symptom and behavior management, the team at BeLoved Hospice focuses on reducing emergency room visits and hospital re-admissions. BeLoved Hospice has added additional therapies to help reduce symptoms of agitation, including:

• Board-Certified Music Therapist to help reduce stress and anxiety by using techniques such as passive listening
• Visits with our Licensed Massage Therapist to provide calming gentle touch
• Evaluations by our Physical Therapist for continued safety
• Evaluations by our Speech Language Pathologist to help with swallowing difficulties that affect quality of life in many of these end-stage diseases.

The Bliss Hospice Dementia Program Includes:

• A "Bliss" neurosensory kit with Aromatherapy Pet that can be heated for comfort, weighted blanket to help reduce agitation, and aromatherapy scented lotion to help calm and relax
• Hospital beds with specialty mattresses for patients with or at risk of complex wounds
• Nurses trained in intensive wound care techniques
• CNA services up to 7x a week for bathing, ADL assistance, light housekeeping, and companionship
