Acupuncture is a gentle companion on the hospice journey that can help ease pain, reduce anxiety, and offer meaningful relief to patients.
Acupuncture in a hospice setting looks and feels very different than it does in a clinical one. The licensed acupuncturists at BeLoved Hospice focus on providing as many layers of relief as possible. That includes relief from physical pain, restlessness, nausea, anxiety, and the emotional weight of what our patients are experiencing in a given moment.
We are honored to offer this care to individuals and families across Oregon, wherever they call home.
Even before we cross a threshold into a space, we slow down and attune to the moment as we enter into someone’s journey. Our visits build around presence and the energy we bring into what we consider to be a sacred space.
Once inside, our acupuncturists meet patients where they are physically and emotionally. We are gentle, respectful, and aligned with what hospice patients need in the moment, as well as how they would like to see this relief carry forward.
We love working with all patients, and have a special fondness for people who are new to acupuncture. It’s a powerful reminder of BeLoved Hospice’s guiding philosophy: that hospice is not an ending, but a transition. Trying something new during end-of-life care can be an act of hope, curiosity, and openness to feeling better. Doing so invites a little light into the unknown.
We are always ready to adapt our treatment style to exactly what a patient is looking for, no matter how familiar they are with acupuncture. Overall, acupuncture in a hospice setting means fewer needles, gentler placement, and shorter sessions. We are happy to apply acupressure rather than using needles if that’s best for a patient.
Often, our most important work happens as we sit quietly and listen to whatever a patient wants to share, even if it’s silence.
No matter what a patient is feeling or going through emotionally or physically, acupuncture can open a window to gentle rest, and offer a subtle shift toward moments of calm.
