At BeLoved Hospice, we use music to help patients and families feel their way into honor their journeys, stories, and the unspoken truths they carry.
There are moments in life when words simply fall short, especially when emotions run deep. When language feels too small, music fills the void. Music reaches places words cannot, whether through a favorite song, a quiet melody, or simply holding space in silence.
Our music therapists tap into the power of music to help bring comfort, reduce anxiety, and create meaningful connections with sound and song.
Through music, patients and families connect, express, and find comfort. In joy or in grief, music speaks a language that truly transcends time. For some people, it’s hearing a beloved song from their childhood. For others, it’s the soft strum of a guitar, the hum of a familiar hymn, or the quiet resonance of a single note held in stillness.
Music therapy can ease pain, reduce anxiety, and create joy in the midst of difficult days. It can help with breathing, promote relaxation, and even bring up memories that offer peace and closure.
Sometimes, music therapy is active, as patients sing, play an instrument, or even take part in writing a song. Other times, the music we provide is about presence: quiet notes sung or played at the bedside and shared among loved ones, or a melody that fills the room.
Music holds space for every emotion across the spectrum from grief to joy. It reminds us of who we are, who we have been, and who we will be tomorrow.
