Putting Your Hospice Heart to Work for Others

Being a BeLoved person involves carrying an incredible sense of presence, care, and commitment, and possessing what we refer to as “a hospice heart.” Our caregivers, volunteers, and members of our support staff approach every interaction with warmth, empathy, and openness. We believe in seeing people fully, honoring their stories, addressing their needs, and supporting their dignity.

We hold space for others in their most vulnerable moments. We listen, sit in silence when words aren’t enough, and offer comfort without hesitation. We understand that the smallest gestures, whether a reassuring touch, a shared memory, or a moment of laughter, carry immense weight.

We value individuals who show up with integrity, who are willing to learn and grow, and who recognize the power of compassion. When we walk into any room, we care about making it lighter. It’s who we are.

Are you this way too?

We are always looking for others who prioritize human connection above all else, and who believe that teamwork isn’t just a concept or a good word to include in web copy, but an actual foundation of care.

At BeLoved Hospice, we lean on each other, we celebrate together, and look for ways to lift one another up in difficult moments.

Our team includes skilled professionals and life-long learners who bring their whole selves to their work. Whether you’re a nurse, CNA, social worker, massage therapist, volunteer, or hold any position here, you’re never alone in what you do. Collaboration is constant, and support is always available. We meet each other with trust, encouragement, and a shared sense of purpose.

We don’t just check boxes. We go much further, and take time to understand what our patients and families truly need. We believe in working together to create an environment where care is seamless and adaptive. To be part of the BeLoved team is to know that what you do matters, and that you’re surrounded by people who feel the same.

Be Part of Our Collaborative Care Model

Collaborative care at BeLoved Hospice is one of the cornerstones to ensuring every patient and family in Oregon receives the best possible support. In traditional hospice models, care can often feel segmented, with different professionals working separately. At BeLoved, we remove those barriers. We function as a connected, responsive unit.

We believe that care should be fluid, adapting to the evolving needs of each individual. If a patient longs for the days they sang in church, our music therapist and chaplain can collaborate to create a meaningful session. If a patient’s family needs additional support, our bereavement team steps in with counseling and resources. Every interaction is shaped by shared knowledge and an understanding of the whole picture.

Patients and families don’t just receive care from us. They are held in our care. They experience a network of support where every touchpoint is intentional, and every action is rooted in compassion.

The Role of Volunteers at BeLoved

In many ways, volunteers are at the heart of what we do at BeLoved. As a volunteer, you provide companionship, emotional support, and practical assistance that makes an immeasurable difference in the lives of patients and their families. Whether it’s sitting with a patient, running errands, or offering respite to a primary caregiver, our volunteers bring an additional layer of care that enriches the hospice experience.

Volunteers free up our medical and support staff, allowing them to focus on specialized care while ensuring patients receive continuous, thoughtful attention. In that space, your presence matters in ways you may not even register. It might come through thoughtful conversation, a warm laugh, or a simple act of kindness. Whatever the case may be, you are bringing comfort in a difficult time.

Our volunteers are not an afterthought. You are a crucial part of our mission. We provide training, ongoing support, and a community of like-minded individuals who believe in the power of presence. Volunteers commit as much or as little time as they are able—sometimes just a few hours a week. What matters most is the willingness to listen, to hold space, and to bring kindness into someone’s final days.
